Core Values
The core values of Journey Church of the Nazarene represent our highest priorities and our most deeply held beliefs. They define who we are and what motivates us. We use three words to summarize these values: Christian, Holiness, Mission
We are a Christian people, united with all true believers in proclaiming the truth that Jesus Christ is Lord. We believe that God loves us so much that He gave His only Son, Jesus, to be our Savior. We believe that because of the sacrificial death of Jesus, all people may receive forgiveness of sins and be restored to a right relationship with God.
Since we have been reconciled to God, we believe that we must be reconciled to one another. We should love each other in the same way that God loved us; we should forgive each other because he forgave us. We believe that our life together should demonstrate the character of Christ.
We accept the Bible as the source of spiritual truth as confirmed through reason, experience and tradition. We affirm the beliefs and historic creeds of the Christian faith. We treasure our place in what is called the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition and believe it helps us understand the faith that is true to Scripture. By “Wesleyan” we connect ourselves to the teachings of John and Charles Wesley who sparked a world-wide spiritual awakening in the 18th Century. By “Holiness", we connect ourselves to the spiritual revivals of the 19th and 20th Century, which were motivated by such leaders as Phineas Bresee, Charles Finney, and Phoebe Palmer and their firmly held belief that God desires to sanctify believers, transforming them into more Christlike disciples.

We are a holiness people. The Bible, which we call the Scriptures, and the grace of God call us to worship and love God with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength, and our neighbors as ourselves.
In response to our faith, we commit ourselves fully and completely to God. We believe that we can be sanctified wholly as a second crisis experience.
We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts, cleanses, fills and empowers us day by day to become a people of love, spiritual discipline, ethical and moral purity, compassion and justice. It is the work of the Holy Spirit that restores us in the image of God and produces in us the image of Christ. Holiness in the life of believers is most clearly understood as Christlikeness.

We are a people with a mission to join God in making Christlike disciples all over the world.
Our mission begins as we gather together in worship, that we may know more clearly what it means to be the people of God in our world.
It is expressed as we receive new believers into fellowship.
As a people who are wholly committed to God, we share His love for the lost and His compassion for the hurting and broken. The Great Commission and the Great Commandment move us to engage the world in evangelism and compassion. Because of this, we are committed to inviting people to faith in Jesus, to the caring for those who are in need, to work to protect and preserve the resources of God’s creation, and to include in our fellowship all who call upon the name of the Lord.
We are committed to being and inviting others to become disciples of Jesus. With this in mind we are committed to providing ways through which believers can grow in their understanding of the Christian faith and their relationship with God and each other. We understand that discipleship includes submitting ourselves to obeying God and to the disciplines of the faith.
We believe we are to help each other live the holy life through mutual support, Christian fellowship, and loving accountability.
We are committed to helping our people accomplish the service God calls us to in the church and in the world.
